JSM & Associates and RS&H Recognized in Airport Improvement Magazine for Work on Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport Baggage System Project

JSM & Associates (JSM), a leading Baggage Handling System (BHS) Design, OAR and Operations/Maintenance firm, is pleased to announce it was recently recognized along with architectural and engineering project partner RS&H, by Airport Improvement magazine for its BHS design consultation and construction management services for the Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport.

JSM partnered with architect RS&H to design a new outbound BHS for Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport to make it more efficient for passengers and a more productive work environment for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees.

The airport completely replaced its former single-pier baggage handling system in a two-phase $11 million project. The first phase, launched in 2015 and completed in 2018, consolidated and centralized the TSA baggage screening checkpoint. The second phase, which automated the newly installed system to make it even more efficient, launched in 2018 and was completed in August 2019.

A study by RS&H, an architectural, engineering and consulting firm that features a full-service aviation practice, provided direction for both phases.   As the BHS design consultant, JSM, provided conceptual and schematic design concepts, construction documents and construction administration services for the project, as well as testing and commissioning support. The BHS project was named the 2019 Commercial Service Airport Project of the Year by the GAA - Georgia Airports Association at their annual conference.
